About Hallam Building & Renovations

I started Hallam Building & Renovations in 2011 after ten years working for bigger contractors around Nottingham, watching corners get cut on jobs that should have been straightforward. Too many homeowners were left with unfinished snagging lists and contractors who stopped answering the phone once the deposit had cleared.

I wanted to run things differently: one point of contact, a fixed price agreed before the first brick moves, and the same tradesmen on site every day until the job's done. Fourteen years on, that's still how we work. Most of our jobs come through recommendations from previous clients, which tells me the approach holds up.

We're a small team, not a call centre. Ring the number on this site and you get me or one of the lads who'll actually be doing the work, not a booking agent reading from a script. We joined the Federation of Master Builders early on because it meant our work was checked by someone other than ourselves, and it gives clients some protection if anything ever went wrong.

These days we cover extensions, loft conversions, kitchen and bathroom renovations and general refurbishment across Nottingham, Mansfield, Newark-on-Trent and Grantham. The jobs have got bigger over the years, but the way we run them hasn't changed much from that first extension back in 2011.
